Sony KDL-46V4100 LCD TV problem
Someone asked me to look at the above mentioned LCD TV that someone gave him. The only action I get are the backlights lighting up and they will stay on as long as the set is powered up; but, no picture. A technician friend told me that Sony's are bad about blowing a surface mount fuse on the t-con board for no apparent reason. On my set, the fuse is good; but, there is only .56 volts at the fuse. I checked the resistance from the fuse to ground and measured 56Kohms; so, I don't think we have a short. Tomorrow, I'm going to check a few things to try and confirm if the trouble is the power supply board or the main board. In the meantime, any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Disconnect the ribbon cables to the LCD Panel and see if that helps(voltage comes back). Those screens are notorious for going bad. Some t-cons get their power from the power supply(4 pin cable) and some from the main board. Probably the main board is bad. I have a BUNCH of Sony mainboards and power supply's pulled from TV's with bad panels. You are welcome to them.

Thanks for the information and for offering the parts. I'll check the panel tomorrow and the t-con board in this set connects directly to the main board.

I disconnected the LCD panel and the voltage did not come back up; so, it's looking like the main board is the problem.

Geez... I have a 40V4100 myself, bought it 5 years ago, has probably 30,000 hours on it now. Watching it as I type. In that pic I see a lot of SMD capacitors. Do any of those go bad?
