I may have just posted the first Zenith type cateract removal video on the web!

I've been teaching my self to decat color CRTs(Zenith mostly) lately, as you may have read here http://www.videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=251655 , and decided to film it. The video is shakey and not of great quality(I lack a tripod and an assistant willing to film in the heat), but I know of no other videos of this process so I have posted it to show those curious exactly what is involved.

Enjoy!

nice video but Tom please, more more patience. wait for a hot day if its not hot enough and AWAYS where a face shield. If something goes wrong you dont want to lose your sight or worse.

look to your local hardware store that sells lawn equipment, polycarbonate face shields that folk use when operating chain saws. Heavy leather gloves, and a heavy leather jacket would be good. I know its hot, but if a tube should for any reason implode it will not end well if you are unprotected. Take care my friend.

Eric, DRH4683's video is on RCA type cateract removal, and mine is on Zenith type removal. They are two different processes entirely, and I have yet to see any video except mine of the ZENITH type process.

Dave, I do have thick cloth gloves, but got sick of wearing them. I'm doing this on the cheap so a face mask is not in my budget. There are no rapid tempreature changes happening, and I'm ultra carefull when moving the tube so I'm not all that worried about implosion. You may call me cavileer if you like.

Oh, I see now.
That worked really well!
It made me a little nervous watching the bucket wobble around.
