Chad, if you were in Ohio, the TV was in Cincinnati and you were in Cleveland, you'd only have some 300 miles to travel. Ohio is nowhere near as big as Texas, but you still need a car to get from one corner of the state to the other. I live in northeastern Ohio, 33 miles from Cleveland; Cincinnati is in fact some 300 miles from here, and Texas...well, that's a good thousand plus miles away (I have a cousin who lives near Houston; the distance is the reason I don't see him very often). Couldn't hope to pick up a TV set or anything else cattycorner across the state (or out of state) from here, as I don't drive. I guess I'd really be lost if I lived in Texas (or worse, Montana or Alaska). That's one of two reasons I don't bid on big TV or stereo consoles (only small radios) on ebay. As much as I like those huge consoles (I had a few when I lived at my former home), I simply don't have the room for them in my apartment, though if and when I ever got the bug to collect old TV sets again I could rent a storage locker at a mini-storage facility here in town. The other reason, of course, is the fact that most of those consoles are offered as pickup only, no shipping (if this one were to be shipped, I am sure the shipping charges would be tremendous from Texas to my town). Oh well. One of these days...

BTW, the Zenith roundie being discussed here looks familiar. Somewhere in my files I have a Sams PF for a TV very similar to that one, with SC, the up/down automatic tuner, the whole nine yards. I saw one console a few days ago on the bay; don't recall whether it was a Zenith or not but I do remember it was a three-way entertainment center with no back cover, and the neck busted off the CRT. I don't doubt this likely would have been a very good set if the CRT were still good (one has to work awfully hard to kill a Zenith TV, radio, etc.), but I have to wonder when someone just hacks the neck off the tube as that one may have been. OTOH, it could have been an accident, of course; I'm just clutching at straws trying to figure out just how that tube met its demise in the first place.
