That Philco is neat looking!

Hmmm... here's a space saving idea: Could take the two and place them back to back in the bedroom. Toss a double matress on top and now you've got a place to sleep! Or, place them back to back in the dining room and use as a fancy dining table. If you like soft music with dinner, just move the roast beef, slide open a door and slap in an LP of Perry Como! :D

Martha Stewart can't hold a candle to me! :lmao:

Eric,

You missed the Zenith B/W combo. Could the fine Captain Moody be interested in this one?

I heard a radio collector say this about Philco:

"The quality fell out before the name went on"

I am not sure that all Philcos were as poor in quality as he thought though.

Great looking sets. I don't have the room for anything that big anymore (I moved to a one-bedroom apartment over five years ago from a three-bedroom house with a basement), but I still like looking at the pics of these older entertainment units. I like those big solid-wood cabinets and the great pictures and sound these things have when they are working; however, one thing I don't like about three-way consoles, never have, is the fact that many if not most of them route the audio output from the radio and phono through the TV's audio section. This means, of course, that the TV sound must be working normally for anything to be usable. If the television audio is out of commission for any reason, the entire system is rendered useless until the TV sound is restored. Give me separate components any day (as my own entertainment system is configured). If it weren't for the foregoing, I'd probably be bidding on at least one of those sets, probably the Zenith (like Doug, I like Zenith TV and radio quite a bit, but because of my space limitations, I have had to limit my collection to small radios).

BTW, good luck to any of our own members who may be bidding on any of those 3-way sets. They are all very nice-looking sets, the Zenith being, IMHO, the best-looking of the bunch.
