View Full Version : Early 60's GE Mini Combo damen 03-05-2015, 09:20 PM My Friend danny picked up this cool little combo in Georgia on Craigslist. He had wanted one for a long time. Electronic M 03-06-2015, 01:10 AM Those are nice. I have a Oct. 1962 (IIRC) issue of LOOK magazine with an ad for those (supposedly some had blue face CRTs originally). I've been wanting one for ages, my self. Closest I've come was the version without the TV at a estate sale, and I did not have the funds to get it at the time. :sigh: DavGoodlin 03-06-2015, 06:41 AM That is pretty unique and skinny, as early 60s GE sets usually are. That is either an M6 or MW chassis and a TU221 am-fm tuner. would be interesting to see the Amp schematic though:smoke:and maybe the hinges are the speaker connections Celt 03-06-2015, 07:20 AM It has the same amp as a 1960 GE stereo I restored a few years ago. Replace those electrolytics! http://videokarma.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=172774&d=1325820686 Marco-nix 03-06-2015, 09:00 AM Your friend is lucky Damen. Nice mini-combo ;) dieseljeep 03-06-2015, 09:30 AM That is pretty unique and skinny, as early 60s GE sets usually are. They used to include a set of extension cables to extend the speakers. They were terminated with RCA phono plugs. I'm willing to bet, the stereo amp has a hum. Look at the electrolytic! :thumbsdn: damen 03-18-2015, 11:14 PM Up and running a few capps and a few tubes and a little work to get the record player going. dieseljeep 03-19-2015, 10:16 AM Up and running a few capps and a few tubes and a little work to get the record player going. I see it has the VM changer with the vacuum cleaner arm. :boring: Electronic M 03-19-2015, 01:32 PM Up and running a few capps and a few tubes and a little work to get the record player going. I gotta find me one of those cool sets soon. radiotvnut 03-19-2015, 08:55 PM It seems like GE sets, especially TV/stereo combinations, are very hard to find. In over 25 years of obtaining stuff, I've only seen one 23" GE color combo and it was in rough shape. This one that Danny found is a nice one and looks to have a strong CRT. damen 03-20-2015, 12:06 AM Here is the GE TV in Bat Girls room. magnasonic66 03-20-2015, 05:32 AM I wanted one forever, I found one in our antique mall, in contemporary walnut. I didn't get that one, but I snagged the next one I found, formerly white French Provincial, and then the owner painted it over with white house paint. Telecolor 3007 05-28-2015, 02:13 AM The knobs that are going from the left of the screen to aproximatevly the middle of it are for the tv? dieseljeep 05-28-2015, 10:04 AM The knobs that are going from the left of the screen to aproximatevly the middle of it are for the tv? Those knobs are for the stereo. GE had the stereo amp controls separate from the amp chassis, even in their stereo only models. I see the set also has UHF. |
