Well, the GE 15" b/w never panned out, but another craigslist freebie came about today!A nice sanyo 19" spectra 2000:yes: this is definitely a smokers set:smoke::yuck:Other than that, it's in very good condition! Maybe i'll summon up enough courage tomorrow and pull the back off of this thing.:D

Well, it took awhile, but it's most of the way done!:yes:I wiped over the labels hoping they were colorfast, but needless to say they weren't:no:The main chassis pcb has been resoldered and most componets leads trimmed back especially around the HV section.(gotta love consumer grade electronics:D)The only thing left to do is pull the tuner assy. to clean/ check solder joints.
Here's some progress pics.....

I think that's the one that uses an oddball horizontal output transistor. Normally, the collector terminal is the metal transistor case. I think these use the case for either the emitter or base terminal. Some Sanyo's also had a surface mounted vertical output module that would develop intermittnet connections on the module.

You are correct! It's a Sanken STD580. The collector and emitter are swapped.(emitter being the case)This Sanyo uses discrete devices for the v-drive and outputs, so that's a good thing....

It certainly did look like it had "Sanken" with the Titanic before you cleaned it. LOL.

Your a real funny guy Tom!:D I've worked on a few smokers sets in my day,but i never saw anything like this one before!I was debating tossing it at one point, but just didn't have the heart to.Other than the grime,it's pretty mint....
