This set is nostalgic for me because my Dad had (maybe still has?) one just like it back in the early 70's.

When our other RCA set was broken (often) I would sneak in my parents room and watch TV on this. :D

I think it was built between 1968-70, not really sure yet.

Got this one off eBay for $9.99, $20 with shipping.

After tweaking the horizontal hold control a few turns it works great, it has a really hot tuner that pulls in most of the L.A. stations clear as a bell.
It's a tube set, probably Compactrons with PC board construction.

Hey, I like it Eric. And the nostlagia facotr definitely adds a lot. I've been after sets I normally would never want, because of the nostalgia.

That's a good pic on that there set!:D Seriously, it is though. :thmbsp:

I agree that it's got a good picture. I think RCA made a zillion variations of that set between '68 and '75. I had a slightly older one in a white case with the old "RCA Victor" badge. It worked fine after I cleaned the tuner and controls and resoldered everything on it's PC board chassis.

A little more info.

It's very dirty inside! This will need a bath.

It only has four tubes not counting the CRT, 12FX5, 17JZ8, 33GY7, 8FQ7.

At least three of them have been replaced before, one is a GE and two are Realistic Lifetime tubes.

There is a plug in module for some function or another, there's also a hack job filter replacement wired in.

IIRC, that's the same chassis that they put in that "mini-console" that you see all the time on Da Bay..

It sure is Sandy, I have one like that with some sort of "leather" case glued to it. It works well.

Yep, that's it. I have a mini-console and a white plastic set with that chassis.

I have an RCA RLC22A plastic cabinet table AM-FM radio that matches your set's blue color. The RLC20 was the matching radio to the mini-console set RCA made. MY RLC22A was made in 1970.

Cheers,
