This is the EARLY color television forum, but you're close enough I guess. If not, a mod will move the topic.

The more info you can give us on your TV, the better we can help. See if you can answer these questions:

What model is the TV?

What problem or problems are you having?

What have you tried, if anything.

firstly im from the uk so obviously im using a 5ohz pal tv

its a panasonic tx-36PG50 36 inch 15:9 crt

the problem is from new and ive seen this problem been stated on other forums is that the tv speakers hum which in av mode, its not a faulty capacitor as it did it from new and other people with the same tv have had the same problem, i heard there was a simple earth wire fix to it but never found any more info on that hence on here, its more of a faint whistle than a hum that has always been annoying and also i cant use the the internal sub cos that makes a sort of MMMMMMM sound more like a hum !!!

please id be very greatful if someone out there cud shed some light on this !

thanks

I don't know much about PAL TV's, nor what could be causing your issue, but until you get an answer, maybe I can offer you a workaround solution: It'd be a kludge until you can get a better answer, but it might work:

If possible, use a VCR or something with a tuner and video output on it. Run the video through your TV, but run the audio through the VCR, and connect the VCR's audio outputs to an amplifier and speakers.

Just ideas: a cable inside the set is out of place, causing intereference to something in the audio section. With the case opened you could try moving some wires around and see if it changes anything. Possibly could be a bad solder joint or otherwise poor connection at the inputs?
