Duplicity: Clive Owen and Julia Roberts. Sort of a cloak and dagger thriller but with Cooperate Spies. Very snappy dialog between the actors. Extremely well done with an ending that is quite a surprise. I enjoyed it immensely and Julia Roberts looks better than ever.

Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd". Great acting all around, beautiful cinematography and production design, but somehow I found the film somewhat depressing. I like black humor and weird films, but this just didn't do it for me. Maybe just my mood that day.... Ok, so one thumb up and one down, for the moment.

"The Tall Blonde Man with One Brown Shoe"; French 70es spy comedy. It had been a while since I saw that last. Very funny stuff about a musician mistaken for a spy, and he's utterly unaware of it. Some great moments and some very dry humor. Well worth checking out, also for its 70es fashions and surroundings (and for the sexy Mireille Darc.)

I also found it depressing; I did not finish watching it.

Duplicity

We were both disappointed in "Duplicity". When is Clive Owen going to start doing good movies again? "The International" was a disappointment too.

Elizabeth, the Golden Age-- I avoided this for a long time because I liked the first one a lot and suspected this one would be a disappointment. I was right, though it was not bad.

Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber-- This one surprised me, I didn't even realize that it was a musical until I got it home. There were many moments where I had to pause the film and just laugh at how outrageous a line or action was. Tim Burton does not bore. I liked it a lot.

American Psycho

Interesting but not compelling, perhaps because most of the characters come off as self important assholes.
Then again, after the ending, one isn't quite sure what is real...

Terminator

Yeah, I know it's not new by any means, but dammit Cameron! I get hooked on his films from the first frame. I've seen this one probably 5 times since it came out, I know every scene, I almost have the dialog memorized, and yet I still can't walk away from it!

Say Anything... With John Cusack and Lone Skye.

An intelligent love story. Lone Skye is a babe.
----------------------------------------------------

Waking the Dead. With Billy Crudup and Jennifer Connolly.

A hauntingly good love story (with a twist that'll leave you guessing) that really communicates how loving someone can tear out your heart and make you crazy! Connolly is a true beauty.
