Flawless. This is a better than average bank heist thriller. Recommended.

I watched Flawless last weekend and agree it was pretty good.

The opening conversation in the restaurant caused me to believe that the conclusion would be different (not to ruin it for anyone).

I enjoyed seeing Demi Moore dressed and coiffed in 60's style.

I find that I enjoy Michael Caine much more now that he is an older gentleman.

I watched Quigley down under this weekend via DVR. I enjoyed it as well!

I saw "The Bucket List" this weekend. I really enjoyed it. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman had very good chemistry. I'd like to see them in another film together.

The Happening, Movie Theatre

What a piece of garbage, no real twist like you expect with Shamilon, and just when the action started, the movie ended.

Top that off, the premise of the movie made me want to vomit due to gross inaccuracies, and blatent stupidity. I'm a Biologist, so I was screaming BS the entire time.

It sure wasent no Sixth Sence.

3:10 to Yuma
This is a good western. The main characters were well developed and many of the classic western elements/devices were used in the film, but the dialog and interactions between the characters were up to date and believable.

Gotta say, though, No Country for Old Men is better!

We Were Soldiers

I watch this everynow and then as a reality check. I have also read the book and the movie is fully endorsed by Colonel Moore.

I thought that this was one of the better (more accurate) war movies that I have ever watched...

National Treasure 2

Even less probable and more far-fetched than the first one. That's Hollywood for you.

I watched it too. It was fun and I like the historical references, but the whole idea of Cibola being where it was really was pretty wacky. Well maybe not any wackier than the first one.

Also watched """The Golden Compass" which was entertaining, but obviously the start of a series, and "The Kite Runner", which was pretty good, although I found the protagonist hard to sympathize towards.

I watched it solely for fun, but I did enjoy the historical references. It's fun when you know the reference before they explain it!

I really thought that the "Hall of Records" at Mt. Rushmore would have figured into the story.

3:10 could have been a very good western, but the absurdity of the last reel was more parody than homage, IMHO. Thirty folks lying dead in the street, bullets flying, and people are going on about their business like nothing's happening? Oh, and you don't fall down among cattle moving out of a pen and get up. You become one with the earth. And one-legged men don't leap from roof-tops to roof-tops.

The story was good, the characters were pretty well drawn, Bale and Crowe did a good job, but the ending was shot full of holes (pun intended). The 1957 original with Glenn Ford and Van Heflin was much better.

This Week at the (Home) Movies...

The wife's out of town, caring for our new grandbaby, and I got to check out some movies that were not suitable for her viewing.

So I FINALLY watched "There Will Be Blood" this week (based upon Upton Sinclair's "Oil"). Excellent, excellent movie. Felt like a Kubrick film. Soundtrack especially deserves attention (original music by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood and some Arvo Pärt). A+

I'm the last man to see "300", I guess. It was what it was, a graphic novel on the big screen. B-

"3:10 to Yuma" noted above. C.

"I'm Not There". Not much cohesion, and the style isn't a good excuse. But it's worth seeing just for Cate Blanchett's portrayal of mid/late sixties Dylan. That segment redeemed the rest of the film. C-/A-.
