I saw Cloverfield on a rented DVD, as far as I know there were no extras (deleted scenes etc). I thought it was a great film; well acted and with the constant hook of making me wanting to watch more. But here's a point. A lot of people would see the film on DVD only, so just for the DVD market, would it be cost effective to make the same film but from a different viewpoint. Initial reports to military; misunderstanding/disbelief; what is it/where did it come from? When they realise the scale of the thing they're up against, how do they stop it without destroying the city?
Essentially a DVD only release with both versions on the same 2 disk set. Be one heck of a boost to DVD sales plus it wouldn't spoil the open market for a sequel.
