...Also.. wa2ise,,, i recall you mentioning that job before..And I must ask, do you think there exists today any firm which makes x-ray prints from crt like you describe? Seems like a novel way to do it...i'd love to see an operation like that in real life.!

We had a Panasonic video system at our jewelry store that ran for well over a decade. The switcher had a 9" screen which in turn fed a 15" monitor out on the sales floor. We had three Panasonic cameras. Two aimed at the the two rows of showcases and one aimed at the cash/wrap area. In all that time, it only had one failure and that was one of the cameras that had become weak and out of focus.

Most of the bars around here have 20" Panasonic tv's from the later 90s going 'round the clock. Some have retrace lines and one has a short vertical. It's amazing how many sets get thrown away due to simple fixes like adjustments...We're alreadys seeing most of the bars and shops upgrading to LCD sets (brands like Dynex, Vizio, Apex; i.e.-the cheapest ones they can find.) We'll see if they hold up to 24-7 use for over a decade.

Most Ruby Tuesday's have LCD's over the bar but those Panasonics (maybe 27"?) elsewhere. Most of them look pretty crummy with vertical and pincushion issues. Annoying to think that they could look so much better with a few minutes care.

I doubt it, but used machines are still kicking around. See

Does the medical field still use film? I would have figured that they would have it all as stored jpegs or similar computer files. Come to think of it, a couple of years ago I was at a doctor's office where they did a chest Xray, with film, so I suppose a need for the above machines still exists.

Hmm. Well, I ain't a doctor but I suppose some of them opt to use traditional methods with this type of thing.

it's particularly fascinating to me since i'm into urban exploration & many pieces of obscure medical gear are abandoned often..

I've taken a newfound likeness to the GTE and have decided to let it rest. It's been resting since yesterday afternoon.
New 'torture set' is a '76 XAM (made by general corporation of Japan, later Fujitsu) which is a 13" color modular ss with a stripe crt. But unlike the other set, this one will be utilized heavily as it always is. (video experiments)
