Well, I actually don't "watch tv" anymore. I find that I don't have time to catch the shows when they are aired...so I download all my shows and watch them at my convenience. I haven't seen a decent series in awhile. They tend to always cancel the ones that work....Firefly, BSG, Stargate, Deadwood, etc. Call me a geek..sure. It seems that just when things start to work, they change it so that they can get a bigger piece of the pie.
I will continue to download what I want to watch and watch when I want :P

All I know if it's on Sci-Fi and has Casper Van-Dien or one of the less Baldwin's in it, it's bad.

What I would pay 10 dollars a month to have, is a horror channel. Uncut, uninterrupted, with a huge catalog of films and television shows devoted entirely and exclusively to the genre. In an age when there are hundreds of channels why can't there be channels that are not designed to please everyone? Seems like every channel has gone the route of MTV, billing and designing themselves to be a "life-style" channel.
There is a network which fits your parameters however loosely: The Chiller Network. The programs they air are certainly not uncut, but it was the first time in 20+ years I'd seen Night Gallery or Twin Peaks. Other series they run include Monsters, Tales From The Darkside, Twilight Zone (the "new" ones c.1980s) and Millennium. They also run some halfway decent horror/sci-fi films which are at least a full order of magnitude better than that festering pus which SYFY calls "entertainment". I'm not sure if Chiller is available on anything but DirecTV, but the network is out there.

You don't, that's the point.
Its been known for a few years now, that the folks in charge of the Sci-fi channel weren't real fans of hard Sci-fi (yea, I know-why are they there?). They have a bigger fondness for fantasy. I don't think this is splitting hairs. They have slowly added more fantasy shows and movies over the last few years. What they have basically done, is taken the science out of science fiction.
The name change just makes it official.
Jack

personally, i've always wondered when they would air science fiction shows. monster and horror material are not science fiction. this channel has been a complete let down for scifi fans, its crap. a pig is still a pig even if you change its name.

best regards, sam

I've been liking the show Warehouse 13 on Sci-Fi. But, I don't think it can really be classified as science fiction. Its more of a fantasy show. But, I have to admit, before that show came on, it had been years since I last viewed anything on that channel.

As far as History Channel it seems like they're going the way of MTV. I see many more documentaries on History International than I do on History Channel. It seems that like MTV, they're making their main channel more non-genre and mass market, and pushing off their more core programming to another side channel.

Cartoon Network likes to do that with Boomerang as well.

I'd rather watch my collection of Space Angel and Fireball XL5, since the ex got all the Bab5 and Doctor Who stuff. I refuse to use cable or satellite, even the new GF returned her cable box recently. Daleks, anyone?

Sci-Fi was one of the reasons I went to a pay TV company. I caught the tail end of the "glory days" when you could still find Space 1999 or an original B movie playing on the SciFi channel. Now I call it the rubber monster of the week channel and rarely watch it at all.
I'm dying for someone to put together a channel that would run all of the good SciFi B movies and series of the 50's-90's. Maybe now that the name is now free someone will get the hint.
Chiller channel is a good second choice (I wish they had the spooky 6 finger hand from my youth), they are on Dish and FIOS as well as Direct TV and I enjoy it.
We know what we want in programming, now we just need to find someone to tell!

...don't think I have ever watched a scifi channel show at my own house...
The SciFi channel has some of the worst damn shit in existance. Anytime they have a promo movie coming that up says "Orignal SciFi blah blah blah" one can be sure of cheese. They have had a few things that were good like BSG and Taken but those days are over.
Let's see
Alien Appocalyse
Alien Seige
and the list goes on.

Why don't they run more of the classic stuff like Silent Running, 451 Fairenheight (sp), Time Machine (1960 version, not that most recent one). etc
