Oooh. I forgot all about "Your Show of Shows" and "Dean Martin". I don't know why I didn't put in "The Twilight Zone", as it was a great reflection of some of the great SF that was coming out at the time, crossed with the need for a 30-minute morality play for television. Rod Serling, you are missed!

Also, there was a show called "Meeting of the Minds" that Steve Allen did many years ago, which was round table discussions between historical figures on one subject or another. Great fun. Steve was quite the inventive guy.

rooster.

Pushing Daisies
It Takes a Thief (with Robert Waggoner & Fred Astaire!)
The Red Skelton Show
M.A.S.H.
The Prisoner
Globe Trekker
Emeril Live
The American Experience
Star Trek, esp. the original and Next Gen
The West Wing
12 O'Clock High
Have Gun Will Travel
Gilligan's Island (so shoot me)
Just Shoot Me
The Twilight Zone (original)
The Dick Van Dyke Show

The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour
I Love Lucy

Wagon Train
The Honeymooners
Alistair Cook's America
Upstairs, Downstairs
I, Claudius
The Forsyth Saga

and let's not forget the specials and anthology shows like "General Electric Theater;" "Playhouse 90;" and "Omnibus." These often presented excellent teleplays by the likes of Neil Simon, Paddy Chayevsky, Rod Serling, and many more AND first rate stuff like "Marty," "Requim For a Heavyweight," "The Comedian," and "Twelve Angry Men." They also brought comedy and musical greats like "Amal and the Night Visitors," "Kismet," "Once Upon a Mattress," "Peter Pan," and "No Time for Sergeants," and, more recently, stuff like "Lonesome Dove," "War and Rememberance," and "ROOTS." Who can argue with that?

I loved Soupy's "conversations" with "Fang?" Now the Banana Splits- Didn't Bob Marley do a cover of their theme song? ( Buffalo Soldiers)

One banana, two banana, three banana, four
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more.
Over hill and highway the banana buggies go
Comin'on to bring you the Banana Splits show

I'd like another hit off that spliff

I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet, "The Andy Griffith Show" is TRULY a classic. And for entertainment The Ed Sullivan Show.
