1) Yes I remember Armand Hammer
2) We have a shop in the Everett WA area that seems to do decent business refurbing plasma and LCD sets for another local liquidation store. They sell very high end stuff for about 1/2 to 3/4 of the Best Buy price. They also warrranty the sets for 90 days, and you can purchase insurance.
