Saw it Friday. Used to read the comic books back in the "Golden Age" and I enjoyed the movie.
Marvel super hero flik plots are becoming awfully predictable though: Spidey is challenged by a more powerful evil version of himself (Venom), Iron Man faces a larger, more powerful, evil "Iron Man," and we'll soon see the Hulk face off against a larger, more powerful, evil "Hulk." Isn't it time to pick up the stylus and move over to the next groove?

I'd say they are more of an 8-track tape, stuck on a continuous loop. Did I see that yet another Dune is being crafted? ![]() However, I am going to see Ironman and likely be pleased. Every account I've read says Robert Downey Jr. blows it out. |

I saw it last night. I loved it. Had a great time.
It's popular to dislike everything now 'days. I gotta say, if you went to "Ironman" looking for an art flick, you migh have walked into the wrong theater in the first place. Super-hero movies are predictible? Duh. Spoiler alert- Ironman wins in the end...

Haven't seen it yet but already certain I will love it.
I'm not looking for an Academy Award every time I go to a movie. Rick

I am going to proceed under the assumption that most who are going to see it have seen it so there will be some minor spoilers. Discontinue reading if you have not.
Finally made it to Iron Man last week and I am so glad I got to see it on the big screen. Production values and cinematography were wonderful. Technology depictions were great too and not lingered over. They just were, accept them and move on. This was not a documentary. First, the easy stuff. I have never seen Gwyneth Paltrow look as smoking hot as she did in this film. Just WOW! Next, Jeff Bridges turned in one terrific performance. One of the best portrayals of a corporate bad guy I've seen in a film yet. I wish he had not been taken out as I would like to have seen more of him in the next installment. And as for Robert Downey Jr.? Spectacular! I've always liked his performances but this one had me howling with laughter nearly all the way through. The cynicsm & snarkiness were perfectly delivered and he never looked uncomfortable with the lines. I am likely going to catch this one, one more time. Rare for me to see a film twice but this one was so much fun I think I need to go see it again. All in all, a big thumbs up. |
