The plug is maybe changed, to insert it into a portable power transformer 220/117 V! The chemical caps will bust after they were 50 years out of work. You have to change also the paper caps! Very important: The booster cap and coupling caps for line out, vertical and sound! B.t.w., Italy starts regular with TV in 1952. What they aired (Called experimental) was much more (in hours) than we aired in Germany after the "official" start 1952. But, they called it in the beginning of 1954 "official start". Please see my cover of "Radiocorriere 1955 #7, 13th Feb - 19th Feb / La TV in tutta Italia" (My collection of TV guides). It took up to 1955, that hole Italy had TV and FM transmitters. In 1949, during an international telecomunication fair at Milan (Palazzo dell arte) they showed experimental television.

Hi tv collector from Germany. I am now sure the Zenith is suitable for 220V 50 Hz and certainly I will change capacitors you mentioned. Italy started experimental tv in 1939 but unfortunately tvs of that era seem to be lost forever. When regular tv service started in 1954 we only had a channel and expensive television sets were not common in italian homes. People used to go in bars and cinemas where was more frequent to see television sets. My family had tv only in 66 and it was a great Telefunken 25". Also color service, despite the fact our Rai tv was ready even in 66 to broadcast in color, started late in 77. My Palcolor we bought that same year is still alive and going strong.

Yes, in the 30s Italy started with experimental television. They used german Telefunken E-1 and the fascinating sets from Allocchio Bacchini and Safar! Safar made experimental sets even in about 1948. I have a couple of early postwar sets in my collection of vintage italian TV sets (1952-1954).  Geloso (experimental one-channel with 22cm round CRT), Autovox console/round 36cm CRT (company founded by Benito the great!), 1952 Effedibi TV-1, Effedibi TV-3/1954 (both 14" pollici), 1953 Allocchio Bacchini 21" pollici (The luxury company), and an early Radiomarelli 17" pollici and a 17" pollici Phonola. Wondering if Geloso was involved. John Geloso iirc was one of the founders and staff of Pilot Radio in the USA late 1920s pre-war.
