FWIW a guy I talk to on instagram just obtained one of these combo units in contemporary cabinet. He plugged it in and turned it on and it works! He got amazing picture and good audio from the radio receiver amp. Donor said it had not worked "in years." It is a testament to RCA engineering from that era.

Thanks, damen. That’s helpful to learn.

I’m finally getting around to restoring this set. I’m looking for a replacement tube for the Colorama 25XP22/25AP22A it has currently, and the Early Television Museum has several options that seem compatible. Based on the interchangeability guides I’ve seen, the museum has several viable options available:
• 23VALP22 (used),
• 23VABP22 (NOS),
• 25YP22 (NOS),
and possibly others. The main differences seem to be whether the faceplate is treated and various safety features. Does anyone have a strong recommendation?
