I agree weak CRT. Our '72 maggie had this issue relatively early(about 4 years). It got so bad, it was unwatchable. It smeared several inches to the right. the rebuilt tube lasted much longer.

My 95 Zenith 25" BPC is going to recycling center has a weak CRT. It also has a recurrent PC board issue that causes vertical shrink that I fixed twice.

I got the brightness up by hitting it with my tester's CRT rejuvenate function and backing off the bias controls, but it did not last long before smear came back. My theory is that the gun, when driven to max, will not cutoff like it should, hence the smear to the right. Funny, I don't ever remember a green or blue smear like that.
