Maybe since he's a newbie someone ought to explain a "recap" to him - there are something like 200 capacitors in that set!

Really? Not even my CTC-7 had that many, and it needed a complete recap. I suspect only the 'lytics in this set would need replaced, that can't total more than 10-15 at most...

I know it's the caps, because when the set is first turned on the HV takes forever to come up, and when it finally does the picture is all shrunk down horizontally. It will eventually get to full width, but then the colors are all off.

Replace all of the electrolytic capacitors, and keep the plug out of the socket in the meantime.

There's probably 15-20 electrolytics in my hybrid - I just didn't want him to think he had to do ALL of them
