I really don't want to work on if I don't have to, but I have a near new 25vxxx22 just sitting around itching to be used.
and the chances of ever finding something to put it in that is tube tech ctc-68 or the like are very small

From 1970 on a few years Zenith offered some hybrid 25V sets. Some Avanti cabinet sets even have that chassis.

never knew what the hell it was.
got it with a dead CRT, and then tossed the tube from my dad's failed TV build attempt into it (heath kit ) so it hardly has 2 years on it.
it then came up with vert problems and was stuck in storage even since.
Is this thing even worth any effort?

If its the chassis I am thinking of it was very short lived. No value
except that its different. It was modular with a normal HOT & an
SCR in the power supply. IIRC the last RCA with a delta CRT. Only
saw maybe 10 of them, all 19" come in.
It may also be that fold down monstrosity with ITR's, we all hated them.
On latter sets vert was common problem. Always two 220K ohms &
a transistor.

I'm looking at the schematic right now, and it's the weirdest damn thing I have ever saw, very modular, SCR on main power, HUGE electrolytic capacitor on input line to main rectifier (800 mfd )
most power seems to be driven from FBT.

Only 2 electrolytic caps on the vertical module, but I do think I see 2 220K res you mentioned, if i ever DO decide to work on this damn thing, I'd have to go over the entire vert pcb to find why it was losing height / linearity.
This seems to be one of the most poorly built sets ever out of RCA

I remember seeing a Hybrid 23DC14 type (4 tube ) long ago, but not seen any in quite a while.

I would if it was it was me. I always like those sets. Did not see much of them, but when i did it was easy fix. I put a zenith chroma color tube in one, and wow awesome picture.
