How about this "Eames Era" classification people and sellers throw around? I see various items from late 1940s table radios, to early Trinitron sets, to Russian-made cameras, and sometimes '80s VCRs. What is "Eames Era"? That term's been thrown around waaay too much--and it's getting to me.

Correct definition of 'antique' as it pertains to me, and my electronics collection:
TV: no newer than 1985 HiFi: Any year, but original MSRP must have been substantial, indicating it is worth a hoot. Wait Wait.... What's that? No! No more newspaper wanted ads! I do NOT want your '93 Suzuki 13 incher!!!!! Yarg.

Eames was a mid century designer,IIRC, I THINK he designed furniture primarily, so by extension, ANYTHING could/can/will be classified as "furniture", and by further broad extension, if said furniture was made ANYTIME reasonably close to "Mid-20th Century", well, by golly, by gosh 'n' by gum, it is therefore, ipso post facto, non compis praying mantis, & all that other highbrow junk, EAMES ERA...Unnerstand now, Bunky ? I like y'all's insights of the Eames Era. A half-used jar of Hellman's from 1997 can be classified as classic, as far as some eclectic sellers are concerned.

Another descriptor often used nowadays is "emo." I've seen this applied to radios & clocks.
Please, can someone explain to me what the hell "emo" really means? When I search the net for answers all I come up with is kids in black makeup looking ready to hurl themselves off the nearest overpass. What that has to do with style is beyond me.
