K11 is very similar to K9 but with all the alterations needed to accommodate the new 20AX tube. They were wonderful sets and despite they are now more than 35 year old they still have incredibly good pictures. K12 and K12Z were even more popular but in my opinion not so reliable. Bang & Olufsen is one of my favorite brands. Their sets are incredibly reliable and well done. Unfortunately the model you hope to get has just the appearance of a real Bang & Olufsen. The chassis should be the F11 or F14 from Nordmende. At the time the MX range was introduced they had not a suitable chassis to fit in that cabinet so they adopted the compact Nordmende-Thomson chassis. They altered it to make it work with B&O remote (beolink 1000/beovision video terminal) but the results were not so good in terms of reliability. MX1500 (the only portable B&O has never made) has instead a Philips (anubis?)chassis. If you're searching for real B&O sets remember that the only not completely genuine B&O are the following models:M20,MX1500,MX2000,MX3000,MX4500,MX5000,MS50 00,ME6000,LE6000.
The older models are all original B&O as from MX5500 ahead. You recognize "fake" B&O if have a look at the back. In non B&O models the scart socket is placed horizontally. In original models you have two scart sockets placed diagonally and also din connectors for motorized stand, powerlink connections and y/c connector.

beautifull collection !!!!!!

I have some of this Blaupunkt remote command

Luxor and the other

Hello Andrew, you have an impressive collection too! The Healing has the same chassis of a tv I have. Mine is branded Voxson and has a nice wood polished cabinet. It has a modern appearance despite its age! The picture below is taken from ebay. Mine is the same except for the color of cabinet. The screen is 19". I also have the identical Luxor you have plus other Luxor (also an early Luxor hybrid color tv). I think mine is branded Skantic. I can have a look to the mountain of chassis I have and see if I can find the modules you need for your Luxor if you want! Not much time ago I found near a trash can a destroyed color tv. It seemed very american in the style of the cabinet and the escutcheon surrounding the screen but it had a sensor channel selection with 8 presets. I didn't pick it up because the picture tube was broken and the chassis missing. I just picked up the label with the brand. It was an owa or awo (I can't remember) and there also was written something like realistic colour... Have you ever heard of this brand? I'm sorry I will not have access to internet in the next 15 days so I'll have not the chance to reply to this interesting thread until next 27!

french set

It seems that Philips made very unusual sets for french market! Here is a tv a neighbour gave me during my holidays in Corsica. It appears quite old fashioned but the chassis resemble the K40. It is a multistandard set (Pal B/G/I and secam L) equipped with remote control. Peculiar is the fact that many old sets in France were equipped with a door who could be locked with a key...

That certainly is an unusual set. I have never seen one like it, though I have seen a few early Philips multistandard sets here in the past (usually along with matching PAL/SECAM compatible VCRs, probably bought by people wanting to watch tapes from their home country as there would be no other use for SECAM here).

It is rubbish collection time again in area, so as usual I am picking up more TVs. Right now I have a Philips K9A and another as yet unidentified Philips set in the car waiting to be unloaded and there are yet more sets on the streets waiting to be picked up.

Perhaps eventually I will find a Philips suitable to become a daily watcher, though I am not sure which model that will be. Once you get used to RGB via SCART you don't go back, so many of the sets I find aren't suitable. Though my current daily watcher - A Teac 66cm 16:9 (though I'm still not 100% convinced by widescreen, I'll probably replace it with a 4:3 set soon) with a Vestel chassis using mainly Philips components and a Philips CRT - is almost a Philips.

I'm quite disappointed when I find recent Philips sets that have YUV inputs rather than SCART, is seems like a backwards step to me.

Hi Tritwi, welcome back. The KT4/K40 chassis was never manufactured here in Australia and so it is hardly ever seen. I do have a 16" Philips that uses the System 4 chassis (part of the KT4/K40 family) that was imported as it was made in Belgium. I need to dig it out and have another look at it as it works but has no sound.

Dr Ido, If you're looking for a classic Philips with a SCART input, you need to lookout for an mid 1980's KL9A based set. They are the last of the Australian made Philips sets before all production moved offshore. These are currently being thrown out in large numbers from what I've seen. Not all have the SCART connector though.

They were called the Philips 700 and 900 series, the difference being that the 900's were all 26" and had 2 way speakers. Teletext was a rare option as well.
Here's a picture of one.

I've had a couple of KL9As in the past, but they had weak CRTs or bad flybacks/triplers so at the the time I gave up on them. A friend actually had one from new (or close to new), but I don't remember what happened to that one.

This unknown Philips I picked up yesterday has a SCART connector (currently pushed into the cabinet). I've yet to check it out (moving all these sets over the last few days has stuffed my back, so it's staying where it is for now).

I also picked up this Korting and another Philips (K11/K12?) for AndrewM.

philips

Hello! Wow! Nice tv the Philips console (the Korting too)! It resemble to a tabletop model very usual here and equipped with K9 chassis and 12 programme sensors. We had the square corners cabinet or the rounded corners cabinet on this model but we never had the console models here.It was available with or without ultrasonic remote control and there also was a model (same appearance) equipped with KM2 Chassis (multistandard Pal b/g Secam L 625/819 lines) and delta tube. Dr ido, if you're searching a reliable daily watcher why don't you look for a MX 6000/7000 or an LX 5000/6000 from B&O? They are extremely reliable, easy to service (from a certain point of view) and offer excellent performances. In my opinion modern Philips tend not to be so reliable...

Dr Ido - Thanks for the saves. I'll be over to collect them soon. The Philips console uses the K11 chassis.
