For the most part, you are correct. All the "good stuff" has either found homes or the sellers are holding back the good stuff to list on epay. I've always done better at estate sales; however, there are not that many around here. The last few yard sales I went to didn't have anything of interest and the sellers stood there with their finger up their butt when I asked about "good stuff". Most of the stuff at yard sales these days needs to go to the dump.

The last few estate sales I visited (in areas that did not flood in '05) were mysteriously devoid of any electronics whatsoever. I guess the furniture and antique dealers got them - they regularly get into these sales early (even days before) leaving very little. The only thing I've scored this year from sales was a very nice early 50's White sewing machine in a maple cabinet for my wife.

I have yet to make it to any. But..... I did sort of. A friend of mine asked me to drop a bird feeder off to this lady in her 90's about 2 years ago. I stopped by and I put it up for her. I had noticed she had 2 sets of furniture in her living room. One set was 50's or 60's in nice shape. I mentioned to my friend if she ever wanted to get rid of them to let me know. Well last weekend I picked up a 1966 flexsteel couch and matching chair. In brand new condition. Brown colored but very hip looking with the mid-century modern legs. I also scored an awesome pole lamp. In exchange I moved some stuff for her to her new assisted living apartment. Plus I gave her 80 bucks. No old tv's or radios tho. The lions club was going to get what they didn't give to relatives or sell right off.

I take it back...I did go to one estate sale this spring. I was pretty mad for wasting my time. It was far from being an estate sale. Bait and Switch. grrrrr
