I'll try to be concise but I have "favorites" for various reasons: best story/plot, best casting/characterization, best looking (cinematography), best score/use of music etc...soooo, in no particular order:
The entire Back to the Future series 2001 and 2012 The ORIGINAL Star Wars trilogy (not that hideous prequel trilogy abortion) Star Trek II Wrath of Khan Star Trek IV The Abyss The Day The Earth Stood Still (original) Journey to the Center of the Earth (original) Galaxy Quest American History X The Illusionist The Time Machine (original) A Touch of Evil Run Silent, Run Deep South Pacific The Apartment Sneakers The Andromeda Strain (ORIGINAL!!) Colossus: The Forbin Project I've never seen a John Wayne film I didn't like There are many more, but that's a partial list of films I can watch any time and always get lost in them.

This is as bad as favorite band/music/lp threads but I'll kick in a few.
+1 on Shawshank, The Usual Suspects, Casablanca, Goodfellas, The Godfather, Blazing Saddles and I'm sure some others I may have missed. I also like the following quite a bit: The entire LOTR trilogy The Blues Brothers Airplane Caddyshack Casino Royale (the Daniel Craig version) Goldfinger Reservoir Dogs Pulp Fiction Forbidden Planet The Wild Bunch Winchester '73 North By Northwest Chinatown Annie Hall Pirates of the Caribbean It's a Wonderful Life Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade The Man Who Would Be King And I'm sure there's lots more I just can't think of right now... ![]() I'm sure more will come to me later

Yeah, I know what you mean. Leaving out the Indy Jones trilogy, or anything directed by Peter Jackson, or any Clint Eastwood film (dir or acting)...all the Roger Corman/Vincent Price Poe adaptations...pretty much the entire Hammer Studios catalog or the entire Sean Connery Bond films wasn't an oversight; it was a space saving move.

I would put these two on the list:
FMJ - Just watch the 1st 30 min of the flic. This is the most accurate portrayal I've seen of 'boot camp', not to mention it's funny. Midnight - It's chocked full of 'entertaining characters'. One line says it all for me. Kelso is on the phone with his boss in NYC, and he says 'These people down here are walking an imaginary pet on a leash. They are heavily armed and heavily drugged. New York City is boring. Talk to you later.' Half the films Eastwood & Newman were involved in. More to follow.......................

Since someone reminded me of The Thin Man, all of which would be on my list. Let me add another movie with William Powell:
How To Marry A Millionaire. Lauren Bacall takes a dig at her husband Humprey Bogart. "Look at Roosevelt, look at Churchill, look at old fella what's his name in The African Queen."

Captain Blood!!
Damn, add "Dawn Patrol", and "Robin Hood" to my list. Plus all those Cagney ensemble movies were pretty good, and Bogies' film noir' "Dead Reckoning " is sweet too. I love TCM ![]() I love the part in Dawn Patrol when the aviators get caught in the basement and Reagan says something like "C'mon you Krauts, give us a break" ![]() "Some Like it Hot" makes my list too.

Yep, I agree "the Shootist" was one of Wayne's best, I loved True Grit too though I only watched it to see Glen Campbell die.
Hitchcock's the 39 steps Manhunter Shaun of the Dead Blazing Saddles High Anxiety Das Boot The Enemy Below Fate is the Hunter Corvette K-225 One film that I can watch many times and not get tired of the "The Dish", it's a slow moving flick and is kinda lost on anyone who isn't old enough to have watched the Apollo 11 landing in 69. Full of good acting..... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0205873/
