Nudes & more!

After I read about the bad caps, I opened mine up to check things out. The caps checked out visually so I brought it up with a variac and it worked perfectly! While I had it open I took some pics.

Internally it isn't much more than a late 70s vintage "portable" B/W with an additional board for the scope functions (the leftmost pcb in pic 3 with all the pots). The scope display scale only displays when the scope function is selected. The unit isn't exactly high end since the speaker inputs are RCA jacks and the case is plastic aside from the metal top cover and faceplate. The QC guys must have been napping as the dust screen on the speaker wasn't correctly aligned with the mounting holes (third pic).

There are plans on the 'net for hacking up old B/W tvs into quasi-scopes. Google TV oscilloscope.

Wow - Thanks for the pics. Very cool.

What are the dimensions of the face, if I may ask?

The dimensions of the case are 9"x5"x16" - face dimensions are 5"x16"

Thanks for the measurements. The width is same as their separates from that year, but with the height being only 5", the cool rack handles they used won't fit this piece. I'll still keep an eye out for one, though.

Thanks for all the updates and pictures. There are more of us geeks out there with these things than I thought.

I'm going to start a new project with mine soon. Pictures will come too.

Mine has been running every few days since I got it running. I like the silly little thing.

I had LOTS of old MCS stuff up until about 3 years ago. I wish I had known some of you wanted it. Some of it was really high end for Penney's/

GONZO, your set is VASTLY cleaner inside than mine was.
