Video production technology is one example where newer is unquestionably superior to vintage. I have no interest in going back to setting up tube cameras, optimizing quad tape machines or dealing with TBC's....

It might have use as parts, I suppose. My son used an old switcher as his "rocket ship controller" for several years, so it had some intrinsic value.

Well Yeah a DVE would work better , but it isn't old School!!! We had to use a sharpie to draw lines on our camera monitors to frame a shot for a wipe frame shot.
Out of all the videos i have seen on youtube , I haven't seen any videos recorded with a old fashioned B&W camera that has comet tails, flairing and other video defects, Logan

beautiful object. The video connectors are the type PL (or UHF. there were commercially adapters PL-BNC). The connector Sync is the German DIN, as the tally / intercom. Somewhere I should have diagrams of connection Sync and Tally / intercom.

It sounds like you found a good home for it, David.

If you (or your friend) want to play around with it, there are or have been basic B&W CCTV cameras with external sync inputs available new in the recent past, or even currently maybe. You would just have to figure out the proper pins on those jacks and get matching connectors or rig something up. That switcher seems to be able to generate internal sync, which would be fed to the cameras.

He's got a vintage Sony camera that should work with this, and a Sony open reel video recorder too....

Guess what i found today. I was at my parents digging through a box of my stuff in the upstairs of the garage looking for an 8-track player for my brother when I found the manual/schematic for the Seg1a. What a coincident! Free for shipping.

some 80's to early 90's CCTV cameras have sync inputs along with video outputs. These would likely work with the thing.

Again, where were you people? Literally two tons of switcher controllers, DVE's, sync gens, TBC's, DDR's hit the scrapyard a couple years ago from my studio. At my current job we're trying to get rid of a Grass 300, Maxine, several MII's and various other odd & ends. The accounting department won't let us sell them or trash them and no dealer will pay to get it them shipped. So this pile just sits, taking up space...
