He's just like that guy on Ebay UK who's listed the same Nakamich CR1E with a BIN of at least TRIPLE what it's worth (£199!!!!) - and it's been on there since at least as early as June 2002!!!

Just like this kind of thing - "Oh I paid £6000 for this IBM XT in 1986 - you should pay me £4000 for it now 'cos I paid that much for it" etc etc.... Twonks in the extreme...

dang...... what a jack-ass! I would rather have a set with some "hours" on it with NO dings on the cabinet. You would have thought he'd listen to us. The dude needs to get a clue, that NO-ONE wants a console. Most are worthless and we probably pay too much for some of the sets we like and have purchased. I will agree that this set is rare, but since it is solid state I'm sure there are more of these floating around then the CT100's. I would agree this set should have a "nice" home, but not for that price. It's still an early 70's RCA product, and altho I'll probably tick some of you off..... early solid state RCA products were not the most reliable. And while we're talking about rare sets.... that Sony 30" console from the early 80's is probably just as rare, and would be more reliable anyway. This seller could find a home for this set by shoving it up his a**! LOL

If you were to search this country & find every person desiring to own one of these sets you could probably fit them all in my 67 Chevy. Now, how many would live in this guy's neighborhood, or be willing to drive to get it? If you offered to give it to me, bring it to me, carry it inside for me...I'd probably take it but don't think I'd keep it. Too many older sets deserve that floorspace. I do appreciate this set as a milestone, and I don't think the condition is all that bad. A wonder that it works at all-you could put a new tv in an hermetically sealed mayonaisse jar on Funk & Wagnall's porch for 30 years & it probably wouldn't work thanks to bad caps. What is bothersome to me: its not our fault the set isn't worth more. There aren't enough collectors of this stuff to set much of a real value-wouldn't have surprised me to see it bid up to $600 or more, & if 2 people really wanted it thats what would happen.

**** Boy O Boy, did my threat to throw it in the dumpster generate a lot of e-mail. Most of it was kind of nasty. So anyway I have to end the fun now because the Ebay 12 hour limit is coming up in a couple of hours & after that I can't change anything. **** What is the set worth??? I had advice from some of you that ran from $5.00 to $100.00, and even one that said $150.00. One of you said that you bought a set that was just as good for $100.00 on Ebay a while back. **** Let's see now. I don't know much about collecting and values of these things but I wonder if that "comparable set" had **** Less than 1,000 total hours on it? **** Did it have the owners nameplate postcard that would have been mailed in if it had been retailed? **** Did it have sales literature describing the set in detail? **** Did it have those little folder dingies that hang on the knob of a set in the showroom? **** Did it have a complete and pristene technical manual with no figerprints or smudges on it? **** Did it have the owners manual and was it in pristene condition? **** Did it have all of the aforementioned material in the original vinyl envelope attached to the back of the set **** Did it have the TCA extender printed circuit service card with it? **** Did it have the original unused remote control in the original container attached to the back of the set? **** Were all of the controls, knobs and switch levers like new because they had very little use? **** Was the power cord still coiled up from the factory? **** When you took the back off of the set was there very little dirt and dust and absolutely no trace of cigarette smoke? **** Could you tell by looking at the inside of the set that it was exactly as it was when shipped from the factory? **** Was it always stored in a protected climate controlled area? **** There's other things, but I think you get my point! **** This is probably the only one of the 2000 made that is this complete! **** Now not knowing much about it, but not being completely stupid, I would say that this is probably a pretty unique set in rather unique condition with rather unique accessories. It's probably worth a little more than that set that was used God knows where, with how many hours on it, stored under the garbage cans in the garage before being listed on Ebay. I'm not going to give it away. I have more in it than I'm asking for. I'm also not stupid enough to throw a treasure like this in any dumpster, but I will say that it will never again be listed on Ebay. Frankly, you "Collectors" don't deserve it.

Did I nail that or what? I knew there was no way this ego centric guy would throw it away, and as I also figgured, he paid far too much in the first place.
