Strange. It may be an earlier box based on the same system. Does the box power up at all? Does the LED display light?

It may be repairable, but it's probably not worth the effort considering that you'd still need to program it to use it as a tuner. They are not easy to open without a "gamebit" (called that because the same screws are used on Nintendo hardware) screwdriver for the security screws. The top of the case is made from brittle plastic that cracks very easily so be careful when removing it. In addition to the security screws there is also usually a tamper-proof plastic plug in one of the corners, if it's missing it's a sure sign that someone has been inside before you.

The "stabilizer" usually also worked as a step-up transformer to use standard 220v sets on lower mains voltages (some rural areas had 110v or 160v mains voltages until the late 60s)

I still remember that buzzing grey box on the floor under my aunt's 50s Telefunken set... it was still there until about 1986 when the old Telefunken was sent down in the cellar and replaced by a color set...

Yes, the stabiliser is a "must" for vintage TVs, in my house the voltage reachs sometimes even 120% of nominal one; some bulbs keep only one week but the bulbs for 260V are more reliable (but so rare...)

As a child i destroyed an Autovox telecontrol, including:
- 1 (one) transistor (OC...),
- four cells (1,5V x 4 = 6V, in series),
- 1 (one) push button and
- one soundcer.

No, no, no...take another look at the picture...the stabilizer is on top of the TV.

My RCA in the living room has a porcelain Lion TV lamp on it. It seemed to fit OK

I have an "O-Sonic" wireless remote control on my old Sears set. The clicker is an actual clicker and the receiver responds with a satisfying "thunk." There were no instructions when I got it, but I'm guessing the extra wire in the back of the receiver goes to the volume control. The "click sequence" seems to be On>Low>Med>High>Off.

I have a late '70s- early 80's pioneer cable box with a tuner knob on it, an early 80's top-loading quasar vcr with rotary tuner knobs, a sony sl-5800 beta vcr, a pioneer vp-1000 laserdisc player and a sears brand CED player from 1981. They all go well with the 1977 RCA xl-100 and 1980 console that I have.

I use this Philco uhf converter, and that older antenna on top of it as well.
