That is a great set. It looks to be well worth a new CRT especially with that wood cabinet and great Seventies styling. As for the small chassis, I remember working on a Sears set in the early 1980s with a similar chassis. The set was a 19" color in a metal cabinet with mechanical tuners. The chassis consisted of two small circuit boards, one mounted horizontally, one mounted vertically on a metal frame. It was a very simple set, easy to service and had a great color picture. There is a lot to be said for simple designs.

Any 19 inch delta tube should be interchangable in your set. The set is definately worth one as you dont see these around anymore and it looks like it plays great.

Dunno if this is worth the money for a rebuild. What'd you pay for your roundie CRT?

Tony: Just about any 19" delta huh? I'm wondering about the curvature of the tube face and if It will fit properly. If I knew an american equivalent number I'd be set. The tube that is in there is fairly shallow. I think its a 110 degree tube.

Any suggestions?

I don't know shit about TV's, but this thread has my interest, oddly enough.

As a side note: I think this would be my very first post in this forum.

Your very first post and you use a swear word? What's up with that? Welcome to the forum. If you like to read about vintage television and the joys and challenges of restoration, this is the only place to be.

The rebuild cost $350. With shipping both ways it came to over $400 but since it is a roundie, I felt it was worth it.

Welcome Mark.

There's nothin like having a vintage set to watch along with your stereo gear. Can't beat the color reproduction when its properly in tune either.

Jordan,
i used to have a similar set to yours with the same problem. I just found another delta tube and put in it and it worked fine. I believe i pulled mine from a mid to later 60's 19inch RCA (ctc19 maybe?) but for the life of me i cant remember the number. It wasnt a low focus voltage tube (like what was used in the CTC53) as i used it as a test tube when i worked on console chassis' on the bench. Yes, the replacement was just a tad longer but it still fit ok. All i had to do was touch up the vert and horizontal along with the convergence and it worked well for years until the vertical output transformer gave out. As long as its one of the older ones with the more rounded face and not the more square face like what is used on the newer 70's sets and doesnt require low focus voltage you should be ok.

I'm not sure if the current tube uses low focus voltage or not. There is no fat focus wire comming form the high voltage supply to the tube base.

Hard to tell considering I don't know the specs of the tube. Thanks for the help though. I'll have to see if I can drum up information on this tube.

19HP22 might be a tough fit . . . considering it's round . . . .
