Magnavox IF Strip Needed
Yup, I need the entire IF strip PC board for a Magnavox T-940 or something similar. The series string and prior sets will work so if you have something maybe we can do some trading of parts or pictures of old presidents. The IF strip board in my T-940 is too far gone at this point to do anything with as we had a little accident and the board was busted.
Thanks in advance and if I have something you need please let me know. Brett |

Do you have the board number that's stenciled on the bottom ? It would start with 210xxx-x.

"The board was busted"??!!
From what I saw on mine, it seems these Maggies were built like a tank! :O

It was my clumsiness more than anything.
So an update on this, Damen hooked me up with another old TV guy who just happened to have the exact board I needed and everything fell into place... that is until I grazed a 120 volt line with the IF plug and killed the tuner! Really I can't catch a break here. Magnavox has a small fuse holder on the side next to the little IF input jack on the chassis and I had to pull the cable to sweep the IF with the marker generator. The cable itself is tied in with the other wires coming down from the controls section and was far away from the fuses, somehow something got bumped, moved or whatever and the end of the little RCA plug grazed the 120 volt line fuse and nuked the tuner. A one in a million shot as I've been working on sets since the 1970's and have never had this happen before. Unfortunately the tuner was damaged beyond repair and now I'm on the hunt for another. Turrets in mine are still good so all I need is a "generic" Magnavox 340137, 340156 or similar turret with the AFC varactor. Again my clumsiness. If it's a vacuum tube tuner I might have one... Years ago I came upon a late 60s rectangular Magnavox console at an estate sale that someone had hacked a 80s Zenith into... All that was left was the tuner control panel and speakers so I took those.... Finding it in my tuner boxes will be like finding a specific needle in a needle-stack (a haystack might be easier).

Thanks to all the videokarma members, I now have another tuner on the way. Once I check it over and get it in place I will shoot a few new progress pictures inside & out.

Mine is that rather odd looking T-933, which I need power up and run, because I have not done so since December, wanna keep it awake!
It's not perfect, could use alignment like most everything, IF, CHROMA, SOUND, but works rather well, except for those stupid multi molex connectors from the chassis to the tuner/controls, big PITA, will sometimes lose brightness, have to reach in move them a bit and it pops back, that's the only reason the back is off the set.

The T-933 and T-940 are basically the same except for the flyback/HV layout and the 1st video, T940 uses the 6MQ8 and also suffers from similar issues with the connectors along the side. I have the Imperial combo which has all the controls on the top along with the remote wiring so what I did was bundle all of the wires coming down to the first two connectors in a manner which allows them to relax but not flex at the shells when I remove or insert them... put many cycles on with the service work. Magnavox uses solid conductors which are a PITA themselves and those Molex pins add to the misery. I suspect one or more has recently failed as my tint control no longer changes the phase but that will be addressed once the replacement tuner arrives, taking this opportunity to take a step back as I'm getting burned out on this.
Do you have the SAMS schematic for your T933? If not I have a fresh set of pictures I snapped that I can send if you like. PM me your email and they can arrive. |

I do have a copy of it, TKS.
![]() The one the that really bugged me about this chassis was the 2 rear most caps mounted at a 60 degree angle, I could find no way to reach them or the underside of them, because of the way things were layered and packed in, could not get to them without taking things all apart, so they are the only OEM electrolytic capacitors left in it, others are new, so far it's been OK.

I left all the original cans in their places and after disconnecting sub'd new ones along the side near the supply divider board using spring clips liberated from old GE MASTR-Pro base station (EP38A12) cap boards.
