84 mitsubishi stereo (got it just to watch the then new MTS stereo sound on miami vice). A cool grand in 1984 dollars.... oh still have it and it still works great.
All my earlier sets were hand me downs.

I never have bought a new TV myself, my parents have though. I helped my dad go shopping for the Panasonic 25" console we bought in 1986 to replace a '75 Zenith Chromacolor II table model. Then we got a 1987 Magnavox 12" black and white at Fisher's Big Wheel for the kitchen we used till the picture tube wore out and it is still in my parents attic. Then Dad got a 1993 Magnavox 27" table model which I think my parents still use today.
