No, it's not scratchy sounding at all. And it worked perfectly just a few days ago.

On your advice, I did go ahead and treat it with some DeoxIT®, and then CaiLube®, and it didn't make any difference at all

(other than making the knob easier to turn). It looks like I'll have to dig a bit deeper into this one...
