Who Actually had the Best Picture?

I have owned a Sony 32XBR100 for approximately 6 years. I purchased this set, new in a sealed box, in Fall 2000 at a Sony Outlet for $900. In 1990, I found many "rave" reviews about the 32XBR100.

I have been pleased with this set, although it did need to be services in the third year of ownership.

Can anyone provide any insights as to what made the 32XBR100 such a desirable TV?
