"Lip-sync" has been a problem in digital TV. It's one of those things that got forgotten about when the system standards were being hammered out. It's gotten better, but sometimes if the source (digital playback at the studio or cable headend) isn't set up right lip sync can be bad. Usually one wants to have teh sound lag the video a little, as spped of light is faster than sound in real life, and that our brains accept it better than if the sound leads the video.
