Sams Photofact #138, folder 7 lists 51T1601, 1602, 1607 and 1634....the 1601 is shown on the cover of the Sams and has a lighter colored front than shown in the brochure, so I am confused about the diferences between the 1601 and 1607.

The first "roundie" that I collected many years ago was a mahogany 1634, obtained when a college classmate had to move and give it up. Still works fine, with just a few tube replacements and a few new caps and resistors replaced on an "as needed" basis.

Interesting that your '51 has the same " + " center knobs as my wife's early '53 childhood set, rather than the "plain" centers on my 1634m:
