Don't know about most of Heath's sets. IIRC, the transistorized rectangular color set I built in 1975 used RCA's SCR horizontal output. The IF was a unique Heath design, kind of an LC version of a surface-wave IF, completely pre-adjusted and potted as an unadjustable single filter block. Not sure if the remote control section was their design - used multiple parallel tuned circuits driving a bunch of transistors with all the emitters tied together, so they sort of voted on which frequency had the strongest signal. This discriminated against wide band noise, but some metallic objects could produce a pure enough tone to turn the set on.
