The bad CRTs the company produced '93-'96 had nothing to do with the decline of the company, it started back in the late 70's when the US did nothing to protect American companies and manufacturing from dumping and outsourcing. Zenith started losing hundreds of millions each year starting in '84, and tried many things unsuccessfully to stay alive. Personally I think they should have dumped the TV business and focused on PCs, but hindsight is 20/20.
The only year after '84 that they posted a profit was the year they sold the PC business.
