By the '80's, I think KTV stood for Korean Television Corp;. Several years ago, a friend gave me a mid '80's 13" KTV "magic stripe" color TV with rotary tuner that he had trashpicked. All it needed was a tuner / control cleaning and it had a good picture. For a cheap Korean TV, it was well built and most of the semiconductors were made by Toshiba. After a year or two, I sold that TV after putting a 23" Zenith B&W set in my bedroom.

I've seen a lot of late '80's and '90's KTV sets and most of them looked like rebadged Samsung's (bad flybacks, weak CRTs, and every other Samsung problem).
