The transition away from NTSC had lots of drawbacks, but I think this is the one that upsets me the most - portability!

Here is a Magnavox Perfect View color portable with am/fm. Has video input and external antenna connection - from May 1988. It is labeled N.A.P but was made in Taiwan, R.O.C. - still a great performer - or was at least until the transition. I have seen the same set with the RatShack label, excepting in silver color case.

This little gem has a great picture - clear and bright and crisp and free from grain - a problem that seems to plague small color portables.

It is powered with a wall wart at 12 vdc or with D cells. If I could find a converter powered at 12 vdc I would like to try hardwiring it to the battery power supply, velcro it to the bottom of the set, and use the built in telescoping antenna and try it out - sure would be nice for power outages.

The GF bought one of those no name 9" lcd atsc tuned portable sets - a helluva waste of $90.00.
