First of all, sorry about the "rules" hijack, and also thanks to those that responded !

I suspect that he has a "false memory" of the event... over an extended time period the human brain often combines several related events and perhaps dreams as well, into one story that makes sense, even though the actual events may have actually occurred years apart.
