Emerson 662 Bakelite

I just dug this set out of storage. I picked this set up at Bryan Gadow's a few months ago. He still has many wonderful sets available, and it is well worth the drive down to see his collection. I had a wonderful time.

It is an Emerson 662 bakelite set from 1951. It has a 14" crt. As found, the set had a brightener on, but after few hours of baking at 8v, the crt tests pretty strong with an okay life test. I guess the old owner put on the brightener to try to salvage a failing video picture before shelving it.

I gave it a slow power up-no raster, just mains hum (the speaker is on the front in spite of the two speaker shaped holes in the top). A bakelite cabinet and an early square crt all in one package. I like it!

If anyone happens to have a channel selector/fine tuning knob, I'm interested....
