My wife's 36" Sony WEGA dead with codes

We have a Sony KV-36FS120 flat tube set, which is one of the last "basic" standard def sets Sony made in '04. It was unplugged, then when I hooked it back up, no startup and it's flashing a code. It seems to be 9 blinks, then 7 blinks, then 8 blinks. The horizontal output's not shorted, and no blown fuses I can see. I don't have the schematic, and I'm about ready to just mail the board to my old friend in Los Angeles who is still a Sony tech, and he'll probably do it for me as a favor exchange. But meantime, does anyone recognize those codes as being something classic? My friend says code 7 is overcurrent on the 130 volt line, but it's definitely not only blinking code 7.
