Swap The Kine--Sony KV27TS32
Hey guys.
I'm getting ready to replace the kine in my 27" Sony TV that I bought new in 1993. The red gun has been blooming for about 3 years now, and it has started getting worse in the last few weeks. Now, the grey scale drifts allover the place from blue to green. I have a junked Sony of the same model that I got when it was 2 years old. It was struck by lightning and blew a hole in the IF board and blew the shields off of the tuner. I assumed that the lightning ran in on the cable... I tested the kine, and it tested 100% on the B&K tester that I had at the time. I no longer have much test equipment. The parts set has been sitting in a storage shed all these years. I'm concerned about the tube going gassy from sitting. Am I being overly cautious? Would it be a good idea if I run the filaments for awhile before I install it in the set? Its been alot of years since I've replaced a tube. At least, I wont have to do much alignment on it. Same yolk, magnets glued in place, etc... I appreciate your reading this. Let me know what you think. Bruce |
