You've got tradeoffs with tube or projection. LCDs have narrow viewing angles, plasmas eventually lose their charge, and tube projectors are too bulky (and usually a pain in the ass to converge).
I watch my HD on a 38" RCA tube set. I'm used to 16:9, but what annoys me is having to stretch or zoom 4:3 material to keep the bars on the sides of the picture from creating burn. Plus, any artifacts I get from the signal are magnified, which brings an NTSC picture down to about VHS quality.
