My Magnavox beauty!
I picked this up locally back in june for a buck! It wasn't until yesterday that I really got back into it.
The owner said it was dead. This turned out to be a heavily oxidized line selector switch. The main filters had very little ESR and checked out fine with a leakage tester. CRT tests as new. Its a magnavox CRT but I can only assume it was replaced at some time. THe emission readings are just too high to be an original! I replaced the HV rectifier, regulator, a bunch of 6GH8s, cleaned all the pots and switches, replaced the dial lamps, set the AGC, performed a complete grayscale and convergence setup and we are golden! Cathode current is spot on and the flyback runs barely above room temperature! Filter can is nice n cool. The last two maggies I had had awful pictures - even with a good CRT and a color alignment. This one looks awesome! Any ideas as to the year? Looks to be about 67-68. No transistors except in the UHF tuner. ![]()
