Continuous UHF tuners...

I was wondering, was there a specific reason why manufacturers got away from continuous UHF tuners? I would think the continuous tuner would cost a little less to make. And since they all seemed to switch over to a clicking tuner (or whatever you want to call it), it seems that there must have been a reason for doing it.

Any ideas?
