I'm not even sure quite why I dragged this home. I found it out at the curb on my way home from work. It's an NEC model CT-2660A, 26" color TV, made in 1986. It has that wonderful 1980's particle-board cabinet, and it weighs quite a lot. It works, and has a pretty good picture. The onboard cable tuner seems to work pretty well, although I noticed a tiny bit of ghosting on higher channels. It produces a nice, bright picture, clear and with good color. The set receives stereo, and the internal speakers are... well..., they're TV speakers. The only complaint is that the top of the picture is a bit pulled in on the corners, and convergence at the upper corners is skewed. The rest of the screen is fine. I checked, and the yoke is secured properly, and does not appear to have shifted, all the rubber bits are glued in place. I don't want to go mucking with the convergence rings, since this seems like an electronic failure. Is this one of those sets that the TV techs remember? Common problem? I haven't investigated further, but I'm inclined to start replacing caps starting around the yoke connector and following the tracks back...
