Andy, you were born right about when RS started dying. I was a teenager in the 70's, and they dropped probably half of their components and similar items from the 1975 catalog when it came out, compared to the 1974 catalog. Now, they have maybe ten percent of what they had even in the '75 catalog. No build-it-yourself kits for various electronic gadgets (audio amplifier, shortwave receiver, AM radio transmitter, etc.), no long list of analog and digital ICs, no in-the-catalog list(!) of all the tubes they carried in-store...
