Some people just don't get our hobby
I was talking to my brother yesterday, and he asked me if I would give him one of my spare sets (I have a few reasonably new--late 1990's--that I really don't use). I asked him if he would trade me for a more vintage set (a early-mid eighties Emerson 19" portable) that he had and wasn't using. He immediately got on me asking what the heck I would want with such an obsolete set (non digital tuning, no remote, etc). I started to tell him about the fact that I always found the non digital sets to be better for distant signals, especially with being able to adjust the fine tuning, etc. He just looked at me as though I had three heads, so I let the subject drop.
Sorry for a rant, but has anyone else ever had the problem of trying to explain our hobby to outsiders? Eric Tweed, ON |
